How to chase candidate and client feedback without the admin

Why feedback stalls, a simple rhythm for chasing it, a short chase that gets an answer, and how to stop writing every one yourself.

Why feedback stalls

A client looks at your shortlist between meetings and means to reply later. You are on the phone, so the chase slips to tomorrow. Meanwhile your candidate hears nothing and starts taking other calls.

Nobody decides to leave it. It just sits on you, one email at a time.

A simple rhythm

After you send CVs, chase two working days later. After an interview, ask for feedback the same day or first thing the next morning.

Every time you chase the client, tell the candidate too, even when there is no news yet. Hearing nothing is what makes a candidate go cold.

Keep each chase to one question and one date. A long email gets read later; a short one gets answered.

A short chase that gets an answer

Hi Priya, just checking in on the two CVs I sent on Tuesday for the Site Manager role. Are either worth a call this week? A yes, a no or a not yet is all I need.
An example. The names are made up.

How Marsalis does it

Overnight, your team writes the follow-ups you owe, like the chase to a client who has not come back on a shortlist. In the morning you read them and tap send. Nothing goes out without your approval.

Connect Outlook or Gmail and emails go from your own address.

Your team only tells you what it actually did. When it can’t find something, it says so.
